  1. Look at how we are viewing this class and discussing it. Our education is everywhere...coming at us rapidly and with newer technology on the horizon. We must learn the purpose of all varieties of media and screen accordingly to reach its potential and ours. Education, entertainment, socializing, business...they all have their place in our lives. Will we evolve as a more connected society, or is this really shredding our ability to interact on a personal level as people. The future is indeed with our generation , how will we choose to use this technology and at what cost?.........AB

  4. I think this video is very moving and I also think that if this was just a plain video with no effects or sound it wouldn't have the same effect.

  5. Alicia is right. People should really talk to other people face to face, not online. Get up, people.

  6. That video tells the truth even when this video is old. Now, those stats have skyrocketed big time. If facebook was the 4th largest country in the world, it is probably the 3rd largest country now. My estimation is that 1000 people join facebook every DAY! That number is probably higher. The world is changing around us byn the second. New products are being descovered and formed. These next few years, the world will change around us. That is 100% guaranteed. That is the truth. Zakon

This video is mostly right. The only part that's wrong is the numbers because this video was made in 2009. The users of Facebook is probably way higher than the number of users in the video. I think it's amazing that in only 8 and a half years Apple apps got downloaded 1 billion times. Also it's astonishing how email used to be so popular but know almost nobody uses it.

  8. Another thing is that I think it is scary but cool that if Facebook was a country it would be the 4th biggest or possibly even higher.

  9. Damon Baribault,
The video was almost right. Some things in the video have changed like the numbers, because the video was made a few years ago so the numbers are different. More people are on facebook than people in the u.s.a probably because the numbers for facebook are sky rocketing high.

This video is almost completly right. The only part that is wrong is the numbers. In 2009 Facebook only had 100 million users but now Facebook has gone more world wide and more people have created a Facebook page. I think it's astonishing that facebook got 100 million users in 9 months but even more astonishing that Apple Apps got downloaded 1 billion times in 8 and a half months OMG!!!!!

  13. Jacob Baribault said.................Facebook is not safe and is a bad example of media. There is to many children under the age of 13, and faking the age is bad because of the ads.

facebook is lazy and stupid. It's wasting peoples lives. Also, it's against the law to have facebook if you're under 13 years of age. The only reason why children under 13 don't have a criminal record is because so many people are on facebook that the facebook security team can't find the people under 13. It's dangerous to any child and facebook never should have been invented.

  15. Alicia Baribault says...
    Define Social Media:
Social Media is a way to interact with peers over the allmighty interweb. It would be an understatement to say that in a sense, the internet controls us all. I can't tell you how many people I know that can't go a day without checking their Facebook or email, etc. Think about it; social media basically manipulates us. Can we live without it, in our decade? The internet is a way to keep in touch with friends, a helpful source of information for homework, sports schedules, and so much more. I myself, rely on the interweb for such things.
Think about it Victory. All of it.

  16. Lucas B baribault,
I think that it really makes you reflect about social media. Must people don't realized but in 20 years or so that WILL increase. No matter where you are you will always be exposed to media, wheather you like it or not. Social media is like racoons at a donut dumpster. I mean they can leave but they chose not to. And in a few minutes that number of racoons will increase with even more racoons who want food.

  17. I think all of this Social Media is becoming dangerous because media sites (facebook)know's too much information they're also giving out personal information this is really bad...JA

  18. We think that the video uses media (youtube) to promote media and give helpful information. Also, on the internet people use improper writing such as "ur" instead of your.

  19. vishal/baribault:) I think we are drowning in technologie because instead of doing something manualy we r useing the power of the internet. Alos, to stop this we could stop inventing awsome stuff and later in the life we could start.

  20. David Baribault;
I agree with ab. We MUST be aware of all types of media, or we will be found unexpectedly. I down loaded Pocket God and recieved an update with Charlie, who had 'tiger blood'. Just today I found out that it was a parody of a famous singer/dancer.

  22. This video just goes to show that Google and popular websites such as Facebook, are taking over! Pretty soon, we will be sitting at home on a chair, on the computer chatting with our friends on Facebook all day long, and we will never visit them or see them face-to-face, just communicate with them over the internet. Also, I think people from ages 7-97 will all have Facebook in maybe two years! Social media is taking over us! We must remember our REAL lives, because in the near future, we will only have internet lives.

The one about social media taking over our lives is from Corinna!

  24. Veronica Baribault It seems as if social media is taking over the way we communicate. It's easier, faster and much more efficient than ever before. Email is not as efficient as websites such as Facebook because you can have a conversation with as many people as you would like. Also, to some generations, email is old news.

  25. I think the comment without a name and Alicia's comment tell us about ow we are moving o from face to face talking to profile to profile talking. Everything is changing around us with 4year olds having facebook, and people running company schedules from facebook!
